AGILITY - AKC, USDAA, NADAC. Our first exposure to this exciting sport was at a 4-H dog meeting in the fall of 1988. We were hooked. After a seminar and some USDAA mailings, jumps and dog walks started to be built in our garage. Equipment was made for the sport to be demonstrated at our county fair, 1989. Floyd loved to do demos. And he was good. Our first trials were in USDAA; 30" jumps and one perfect run to get a title. Well, it took 5 years for Floyd to get a perfect run. It was the "5 point club" for us - knocked pole, over time, wrong course. When AKC came out with it's version of agility, we had the Novice title in no time at all! Unfortunately Floyd got cancer and could not go on to the Open class. T took over as our demo dog and worked his way through the AKC agility classes.
All dogs are / were owner handled.
- "T"
- T earned his AKC Novice degree in 3 shows in January, 1997, when he was 2 years old. He finished his Open degree in January, 1998, at 3 years old, and his Open Jumpers with Weaves in 1999. Excellent Jumpers with Weaves and Excellent Standard took longer to earn. T finished his Excellent Jumpers with Weaves title in July, 2001. In July, 2002, at the age of 8 years, T finished his Excellent Standard Agility title. T also has the NADAC Novice standard, gamblers and Open jumpers titles. I only show T in Ridgeback Specialty Preferred classes now. He has 2 legs toward the Novice degree.
